Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (ACEhp)
Nomenclature Leader in the Quality Improvement Education Initiative
Co-leader on ACEhp’s Quality Improvement Education (QIE) Initiative “Building Block” (aka, Domain) on “Nomenclature and Its Adoption” (formerly “Taxonomy, Terms, & Interventions”). Overall, each of 10 Building Blocks contributes to the QIE Initiative Roadmap Report, divided into description, context, recommendation, and bibliography. The goal is to have a single set of “concepts,” “terms,” and “definitions” that are integral to quality improvement, healthcare quality, and clinical education, to bridge gaps among these fields, and communicate QIE progress with a consistent, structured vocabulary. The nomenclature, which crosses professional domains, will focus on operational definitions that can be used in interventions. The nomenclature must be adaptable, sustainable, and useful to Alliance members who are crossing the gap to the QI space. Sandra’s involvement began when she wrote a QIE Initiative description that was deemed appropriately broad and sweeping that ACEhp moved excerpts as needed for the main Roadmap Report.
